Currently running XP Home & latest ActiceSync client on a Dell Axim X3 with
no network card.

Can I still browse my home network via ActiveSync somehow, and if so, how?

TIA

if you are connected and have the activesync passthrough settings, start
pfile explorer and tap the "open" icon at the bottom.

"browsing" is not an option, but you can connect by entering the address
of any pc with shared folders... i.e. \\computername\

hmm, tried all that and still can't connect.
I even tried turning of XP-SP2 firewall and no luck

I have a 4-machine home network set up here, all connected via a D-Link
router, all sharing an internet connection, yet my Axim can't "see" any of
them.

Every time I try the "Open Path" command in File Explorer, it pops up a
window saying:

"Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection
settings, tap Settings."

Also tried from within Resco Explorer 2003 (latest version)

What am I looking for and what needs changed?

in the Options settings of ActiveSync on your desktop on the "Rules" tab
you'll see passthrough, is that setup correctly to use a Work connection

What do you mean 'still'? You could never attach to local drives on your
network via AS pass-through from the cradle. The IP protocols that are
required for that are not supported by the ActiveSync connection. To
browse, or connect to, shared drives on your own network, the PPC needs to
be connected as a host on that network, with an IP in that network, via
WiFi, a wired network card or dialed in via RAS, or BT network connection I
would suppose. Not however via a BT AS connection, that's just like sitting
in the cradle.
