I have Windows Live Mail. When I go to newsgroups and open picture files,
under a heading, instead of getting a full frame picture, I get a thumbnail.
Where is the setting to get the full picture instead of the 'slideshow'
thing? I have been working on this for a cottonpickin week now and can't
come up with a solution. Any help sure would be appreciated. Thank you.

Not to be too dang picky but a little more info would help.. Starting with
which version of live mail you are using.

What newsgroup are you having problems viewing? Link?

That feature is design intent.

Windows Live Mail uses a built-in/hard coded slide show viewer for attached
pictures when viewing in plain text or html.
It cannot be disabled.
To view the full picture
1. Double click the picture/thumbnail
or
2. Right click pic/Open
or
3. Click 'View slide show'

In mail or news mode, when viewing in Html (not plain text), if the picture
is inserted (not attached) it will appear in the body of the message
without the slide show option.

Thanks Winston. Drew ask me what version I'm using and I can't even find
that...sheeeesh!!!! Everything that I view in News.astraweb.com comes up
with a thumbnail but everything that I view in the annexcafe groups comes up
with full pics and is very readable just like it use to be in Outlook
Express. Just frustrated here I guess. Bought this new machine with Win 7
and seems like they are getting very good at hiding all the settings. Guess
this old man is at the age where he don't like change LOL. Thanks again
folks for the replies.

With live mail open click "help" and then "about Microsoft windows live
mail". At least that is where it is in version 2009 which I have.

Ok, got it now thanks to you Rene and also thanks Drew. I'm running WLM 2011
build 15.4 but don't know for how long. Getting tired of fighting it. I
tried Thunderbird but had problems with the newsgroups there too. Guess I
might as well give it another shot cause I sure don't like the
'thumbnail-slideshow' thing. Thanks all for your help.

Get rid of it and download Windows Live Mail 2009. Problem solved. You
can find it on the net.

An easier way..just look at the message properties of your post
X-Newsreader: Microsoft Windows Live Mail 15.4.3508.1109

As a fellow AnnexCafe user....which annexcafe group are you seeing the full
pics. I'd be happy to take a look.

If considering reverting to WLM 2009 on Win7...do note that 2009 versions
are intended for XP and will eventually be deprecated...support for 2009 is
termed as the 'foreseeable future'. Foreseeable does not mean in
perpetuity, nor may it mean until the end of XP's life cycle.

A fair amount of functionality in the Live programs is hard coded and it
would be relatively easy to turn features off in 2009 via an update,
piggy-backing on a WU/MU security patch, disable Live ID access(client
telemetry is collectible) affecting said functionality. Have a plan for
the future if using 2009!!!
