I saved a file with a .odt file extension and when I send as an
attachment nobody can open it. Is it possible for me to change the
extension to .doc so everyone can open it? If so, how do I do it?
Thanks for help.

Is it actually a .DOC file? If so, just right-click the file and
choose to rename it.

No. odt is "Open Document Format" - used by Open Office and many other open
source applications.

No, it is a .odt file as indicated above. I use Firefox, Windows Live
Mail, and Vista Premium. I have tried using many programs to open it
and now I can't open it myself. What program or programs should open an
..odt file?

Thanks everybody for the info. I guess that I can only send an .odt
file to someone that has Open Office.org, because they would be the only
ones that could open it.
I will try to send as a .doc file as almost everybody can open that
type of file.
I learn little by little....
