Can I clean up Windows.old folders

Hello,

A while ago I installed Windows Vista Home Premium on my pc where Windows XP
previously was installed on. There were 2 ways to do that: 1st option was to
overwrite the Windows XP (but that didn't work) and the second option was to
install Vista from scratch, which finally worked ok.

By doing this, the system kept on my C-drive 2 files. The first one is
called "Windows.old" and the second one is called "Windows.old.000"

As both of these files are very huge files with subfolders and programs, I
would like to clean them up.

My question is if someone can tell me if I could just delete these 2 files,
without harming my computer or computer programs which I currently use on
Windows Vista?

Thank you,
Erik

Hi Erik,

Yes, it will be safe to delete these two files. They are just copies of
your old OS install. You can also use Disk Cleanup to get rid of them.
