The user group policy option "Remove access to use all Windows Update features"
should do the trick.

You'll probably also want to set "No auto-restart with logged on users for
scheduled automatic updates installations" in computer group policy since
otherwise the machines will be rebooted without warning.

Are the machines turned off at the end of the day? If not, you need to think
about how you'll notify users that they need to reboot.

Harry.

What Harry said.

The computers should be configured not to install updates if a possible
reboot might be inconvenient.

Note the updates which require a reboot aren't installed until the reboot
takes place. If you install a critical security update and it requires a
reboot, the machine remains vulnerable until the reboot takes place.
