how can i erase a password on windows vista?

Some idiot put a password on my computer and then left town. I need to know
how to "hack" into it to erase the password. On top of that my fiance
reinstalled windows vista but not the original one that came w/ computer. How
do I erase or delete one or the other?

Need help, this is driving me nuts, and I've been w/out a computer for weeks
now.
