Can I install WindowsME update to Windows98SE

I have a need to install Windows ME on a machine now running Windows98SE

I have been told that I can obtain a Windows ME "Upgrade" which will put
(similar to) a patch on the machine and I will not have to install my
application software again.

Windows 2000 or Windows XP is not an option. I am very unskilled in PC
installation.

Is it possible to UPGRADE from Windows98SE to WindowsME and have the
application software (MS Office and several years of Turbotax) work after the
upgrade?

There is no downloadable update for Windows 98 to Windows ME.
You would need to locate and buy Windows ME Upgrade or possibly the full
retail version of Windows ME.
Since Microsoft stopped making and selling ME years ago, it will be
difficult to locate in the normal retail channels.
But Ebay may be a source.
Also ask your local computer shops.

Thanks for your interest.

I am, indeed, looking for a retail copy of the UPGRADE.
I plan on hiring a technician to install it.

Assuming I can locate the UPGRADE, my question remains, can it be installed
and result in having my current application software available to me?

I do not have installation cds for many of my applications.
