How can I know if Windows Update has executed

Hi

I have just set Windows Update to execute at a certain time but I suspect
that nothing is happening.

There doesn't seem to be any increase in transfer rate over the NET, no new
application appears in Task manager and the processor doesn't seem to have
an increased workload.

I wonder if a sevice I need to be runnning isn't launched at start up.

So, how can I confirm that update is/isn't running and what is likely to be
stopping it if it isn't?

Hi,

Some log files you need to look at:

%windir%\WindowsUpdate.log
and
%windir%\SoftwareDistribution\ReportingEvents.log

(%windir% is typically C:\Windows or C:\Winnt)

Note that the text goes pretty far out to the right on the latter file,
turn off any line wrapping in your text editor.
