can login only in safe mode after disk clean up

Hi,

I'm looking for help.
It's about a HP Compaq 6710b laptop, with Vista pre-installed.

After doing a disk cleanup, I cannot login.
The system boots up, I get the users icons window, but after select and
input the password, I'm stuck in 'Welcome' window for ever.

I can login in safe mode, I activate the built-in administrator account, I
create a new account (administrator) but no use, trying to login with these
new accounts, get same results.

I made the ntbtlog file - last line is about loading the cdfs.sys file.

Tried system restore, startup repair - no results, same issue in login.

Can I get some ideas where to search the reason and eliminate the cause?

I'm trying to avoid 'new clean install'.

Best regards,
Cristi

Thank you for your reply.
Interesting information.
I believe that it is not my case, I think I would not be able to login with
safe mode in such a case.
Your opinion?
Anyway in this case I understand that the only solution is the one I'm
trying to avoid - new installation.

Thank you for your reply.
As I mentioned, I tried already startup repair.
No result, I get the same behaviour.
Other ideas?

Yep. Good point!

>> Your opinion?

Can you check the registry (under VolumeCaches) folder to see if the
"Folder" value is present for each WER handler in Disk Cleanup? Perhaps you
can export the whole key and post here. May be that'll tell if this problem
was caused by Disk Cleanup or not.

Appears fine. Can you upload the whole "VolumeCaches" key somewhere on the
web? I'll do a comparison with the settings in my system.
