can not hear sound of songs, dvd,...

Dear all,
I probably deleted by mistake a system file of Windows Mediaplayer which
seems to cause a problem. Whatever I try, I am not able to hear one single
note or tone anymore. Can someone help me out please! This is the message I
receive :
"Can not play the file because a problem with the sound aparatus ocurred.
Maybe there is now sound aparatus on your computer installed or it might be
used by another program or disfunction" (this is a translation from Dutch
into English)

Reinstall your sound card driver.
