I can not install critical updates to my Win98SE system

I have been having problems with loading web pages....alot
of time it says its not able to find. I have also been
having problems getting into yahoo chat and messenger. I
went today to try to download critical updates and it
scans ok and then when I click install it doesn't do
anything at all. It never gives me any kind of error code
or anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated....I
don't know how to fix my problem. Thank You

Have you tried the suggestions on the Windows Update Troubleshooter?

Try the following suggestions:
Scan Hangs at 0%
and
Scan for updates freezes or stops at 0%

In addition, this can also happened if an installed program is intercepting
the Windows
Update process. Here's a knowledge base article with a list of some known
programs:

For testing purposes you may try temporarily disabling any web enhancement
and/or accelerator programs before accessing the site.
