can not install microsoft updates!!!!!

i have down loaded up dates for for xp. when I click install the box appears
and shows that it's iniatalizing. then it says the following updates were not
natalled. with no error code or a way to find out why. what do I need to do
to fix this problem.

Update, from Microsoft Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you
repair
