Can not install .NET Service Pack 1

I just downloaded and installed a lot of updates to a computer including SP2,
but the update for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 will not
install. The error it gives me is as follows.

Having the same issue, more or less. and in my case, everytime I try to
update the program freezes when its install time, and for some reason
prohibits me from installing other updates.
