Can not install update KB883939 cumulative sec. update for IE SP1

Windows update prompts for this update. I apply the update but upon restart
I get a message saying, "could not update files 1% to 2%". The computer
reboots but the update has not been installed. Windows update comes back the
next day prompting me to download the update again. Every time i apply the
update the same thing happens. This has been the situation for 2 months or
so. I have started to ignore the windows update prompt. Can anyone help???
