I can not install the windows updates anymore

I had an error message from Windows XP that said something about a Generic
Host Process error, so I followed a link that said that I needed to install
the following file WindowsXP-KB894391-x86-ESN by the way I have 3 XP
professionals in the computer in 3 different hard disks 2 are in spanish and
2 in english, well after before installing the file
WindowsXP-KB894391-x86-ESN the web page asked me to validate my Windows wich
I did I received a message saying the serial number I have is invalid and
that I will only be able to download files through windows update well that
is not so. I can not download files from windows update anymore can somebody
help me please is not even giving me a code error it just says error.
