Can only sync files, not calendar, notes, contacts

I am having a problem getting activesync (3.8) to automatically sync all
items that I want as a default. Every time I connect my device (has windows
mobile 2003, second edition), it only syncs my "files", and not the other
items I had previously checked (calendar, notes, contacts). I then go into
tools - options-sync options, and then check the notes, contacts and calendar
check boxes, and it does sync at that point. However, when I disconnect the
device, and reconnect again, it just syncs the "files" and not the other
items. If I go into tools- options-sync options again, I find that all
checkboxes are uncheked except for "files". So I have to do the same thing
again (i.e. check the boxes).

I have already tried the following:

-deleted the existing partnership and created a new one
-uninstalled active sync and reinstalled it again
- tried different settings in the active sync software (things like "on
connect" sync manually, continuosly, or on connection only, changed the rules
etc.) but nothing seems to get it to default to sync all the items I want.

Any thoughts on how to solve this?

Hi,

Try running Detect & Repair feature available under the Help menu in Outlook
and then recreate the partnership.

Hi,
If that does not work then try reinstalling ActiveSync.

I was also having the same issue with my HP iPAQ HX2415 PDA (Refer to thread
"iPAQ HX2415 with MS Windows Mobile 5.0 Upgrade Install will not sync" dated
4/3/1006) and Raj Pillai reponded with the following:

WM 5.0 has several changes when compared to earlier OS's such as Windows
Mobile 2003. One of them being the manner in which WM 5.0 connects with
your desktop using ActiveSync. With respect to the error code, refer to
this post -
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...134690e78923cb

I went to the indicated URL and followed the instructions and low and behold
I was able to get the iPAQ PDA to sync with my Outlook 2003 information.

Hope This Is Helpful,

Richard L. Miga
