I hate this Windows Live Email I have a lot of folders in my Outlook Express
on my old computer, it worked so nice. Can move them where I want, set up
message rules, it worked slick.

With this Live one I can't do anything in it. My folders keep disappearing,
message rules don't work right mainly because they keep disappearing.

I have 2 email accounts so it seperates them, then there's sent, drafts,
deleted etc in them. Then there's local folders with the same stuff in them.
It's so messy and non user friendly.

Is there a way to get rid of the crap I don't want? Way to lock in the
folders so they don't go away? Or better yet can I download and use Outlook
Express? I'm ready to open a yahoo account and forget about Windows. Which
I shouldn't have to do!

Outlook Express is not an option on Windows 7.
Msft's only supported products are Windows Live Mail or Outlook(part of all Office 03/07 suites except Home/Student)

All accounts in WLM have their own separate set of folders(Inbox, Sent, Deleted etc).

Duplicates in the local folders are caused by.
a. failed migration or import
b. user aborting the process during an import
c. user shutting down WLM prior to migration or importing completion
d. redundant attempts to import the same messages

Fyi...Other third party email clients will function on Windows 7.

MS Outlook Express was bundled with MS Internet Explorer through IE6.
Windows Vista shipped with MSIE7, and Windows Mail, while Windows 7 ships
with MSIE8 and no email program.

If you have Windows 7 Professional, or Windows 7 Ultimate, there is supposed
to be a way to install Windows XP in a virtual machine, or something like
that. Windows XP shipped with MSIE6, and MSOE6.

I do not know of a truly "User Friendly" program. Every application has its
quirks, and users mostly adapt. The problem comes when the application the
user is familiar with works one way, and its replacement doesn't work
entirely the same way.

Don't try to add folders under the account folders section of a POP3
account. Rules work just fine, in POP3 accounts, if the folders the rules
point to are under the "Storage folders" section.

No. The only way to get MSOE on Windows 7 is to use the Windows XP Mode
available in Windows 7 Professional, or Windows 7 Ultimate (but not
available in Windows 7 Home Edtion).

Yahoo! is an email service. Windows Live Desktop is an email client. The two
are not the same thing.

Have to take you to task on this one, Norman. I have had user-defined
folders under a POP account for more than three years with no problems at
all. Message rules work fine to divert messages to them, and I can see them
all the time without scrolling down. Another advantage is that all my POP
junk (from 21 accounts) ends up in the same folder for quick review and
disposal. Ditto all deleted POP messages.

The only reason for not using them that I can see is that they will get
deleted if the account is deleted. Workaround - don't delete the account,
or if you must, move messages in its folders to somewhere under Storage
folders first.
