Hi Warren,

Ooops. This tutorial may be able to help you. Check to make sure that
the missing user folders have the default location set for them in the
registry and restart the computer to restore them.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Excellent reference document Shawn, thank you. Since I posted I decided to
look in the recycle bin and guess what I found. I simply restored them and
everything is okay.

Excellent article, though, I will print it and save

Thank you very much

1) Check to see yu don't have a hole in your pockets.
2) Backtrack over your route till you find your dropped change.
3) STOP PLAYING WHERE YOU SHOULDN'T
4) Sell your PC and get a newspaper.

Hey Shawn

I'm new to Vista. I also had some major issues with the persona
folders. By default they are on C:\ drive, and i wanted to move th
essentials like music, videos, pictures, downloads, documents, contact
etc to my E:\ which is used for storage. Now when i first moved th
downloads, the icon screwed up, So i thought I'd restore default an
then for some reason my downloads folder became my documents folder.
had similar problems with every other folder and now I have lost m
video folder, I have lost my downloads, and now have 2 documents folder
which are (indestructable and linked together at the same time)
picture folders with the same problem, and the rest are fine but ha
trouble listening to me as well. I read your article about tryin
shell:command and also opening the regedit. Still no luck. Please help
I'm snagged

Hello Joronamo

For your *Documents* folder, it sounds like you have a program tha
places a folder inside of the original location causing you to have tw
now instead. For your *Downloads* folder, it sounds like you may hav
set something wrong or dragged it into another folder by mistake

I would recommend using Option Two in this tutorial below to restor
all of your user folders back to their default locations. Afte
finishing the tutorial, delete any extra folders left

Hope this helps

Excellent reference article Shawn.

Since posting my problem I found the missing personal folders in the recycle
bin, restored and problem solved.

There's a much slicker way of moving personal folders to your E:\. Create a
set of blank folders under E:\UserName and then redirect storage location,
using the "Location" tab in the Properties of each Personal folder. This
way the Personal folders look like they're in the same place on C:\Users\
UserName but in actuality they are stored on E:\User Name.

You don't disturb the structure of the user profiles, while achieving the
goal of saving Personal folder data on your Data drive rather than System
drive.

LOL oops,

Warren, I'm happy to hear that you have sorted it out and got them back
without having to do to much work with it.

Hello Brink

I tried Option 2 for the 20th time and still no luck. However I di
some investigating. Turns out when enter shell:downloads in the searc
bar, it opens up my documents folder which contains my recieved file
and sharing folder for wlm. When i search shell:documents no results ar
found and likewise with videos. So turns out my Downloads turned into m
documents, and my documents and videos are missing altogether

Please help
