how can I reinstall media center?

I am running vista home premium on a hp pavilion a6057c with upgrades. The
pre installed tv tuner card used to work fine and now won't. Media center
tells me that it is the card's fault, but I don't think it is. I believe
that installing one of the updates may have caused this. However, I don't
know which one since they are numerous and varied and I don't use the tv very
often.
Can I just somehow reinstall media center?

I believe that when you install one software call VLC Media player caused
this!
