How can I specify download path?

I have plenty of disk room on D: drive, yet update gives me no option to
download there. Because I don't have enough space, even temporarily, on C:
for the download, it fails. How can I get around the problem? Thanks,

Use 'Disk Cleanup' allthough with insufficient space this may not work.
In Internet Options delete temp files / cookies etc
Move My Documents to D and any other data or
Uninstall apps, reinstall using custom install to D
Move swap file to D
