Can spell check be inserted into Notepad, or Wordpad?

I am using Vista home basic Notepad. I find note pad very convienient for
journaling and keeping track of things like user names and passwords. When I
first began using the programe I knew there was no spell check but I
continued anyway. Unfortunatly my spelling is so attricious that I'm going to
have to do something. I know there are other programes I can use but now I
have a great deal of text already writen that i would realy hate to break the
stream of what I already have. I was hoping that there may be a way to insert
some form of spell check into Notepad, if not I guess I'll have to move the
text over to word pad. Just a sec , I'm ging to see if wordpad has spell
check.... Crap! How ironic, I just tried to use my browser spell check on
this window...Not! Well if anyone Knows how to accomplish the task of
inserting spell check into Notepad or Word pad let me know. While we are at
it lets us try and talk Microsoft into spell check for this window. Meanwhile
I'll be moving my text over to works and simply move ahead.

And if you are in the UK, you will most likely have to endure the American
spelling of the words...

If you do not have a word processor which has spell check facilities and you
do not want to pay out for a product like Microsoft Office, consider
downloading Open Office..

Both Notepad and WordPad are pretty basic so don't come with spell checkers;
however, that doesn't mean to say that you can't obtain an office
application that does have a spell checker and is also free. I would suggest
you try OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org) You'll have far more scope with
OpenOffice and, as I've said, it is free, so why not take advantage of it!

You and Mike Hall both missed the OP statement: "...guess I'll have to move
the text over to word pad...."
I realize that his not capitalizing "word" made it less obvious.

I want to thank everyone for their help and advice. If you will notice at the
end of my post I decided to transfer everything over to Microsoft Works. I do
know about open office and have used it in the past. The main reson I was
using Notepad was speed, the program open's very fast. Works open's faster
then other office word processors so I wil simply use it. My needs are simple
and I prefer not to clutter my machine with several office programs. I do
have both 2000 premium and 2007 but choose not to load them. they are both
very good but as I said my needs are simple. Again thank you for your
responses.

Hey Charles If you notice every body missed the part where I had decided to
move everything over to Works. I don't suppose to many use Windows Works and

Hello Mike; Thanks for taking the time to respond to my query. If you will
notice at the end of my post I mention that I had decided to simply transfer
to Works. Maybe this is to cryptic as you may know Vista comes standard with
Windows Works. this suite includes a word processing program. I also have on
CD Office 2000 premium and 2007 but choose not to use them. My main goals are
simplicity of use and speed. This is the only reason I asked such an
obviously unanswerable question. I really did not believe that spell check
could be inserted into Notepad or Wordpad by I was hoping. After using the
works processor I find that it is at least sufficient for my needs and much
faster to open then I had previously thought. As for OpenOffice... Thanks,
but no thanks. Again thank you for your help.
