What OS and service pack revision are you using? And what version of
directx are you using?

To find out: start->run->dxdiag.

The OS is Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition(5.1, Build 2600). I'm not t sure
what the serivce pack or revision is. And the direct x is Direct X 9.0c
(4.09.0000.0904). The thing is I'm trying to download a game onto the
computer and it tells me that I need the direct x 9.0c or higher in order to
play it. I went to the Microsoft website and it won't load up saying there
was some kind of error. I tried to update the Direct X and I have no idea
how to do so and it's very aggravating.

hi there,

DirectX 9.0c is the latest version.

Check the game manufacturers site for system minimum requirements and
patches if needed.

Hi there,

Forgot to mention: check under devce manger if your display adapter is
proparly installed and also check if hardware acceleration is enabled on
your video card: go start than run and type dxdiag than enter and go to the
display tab on top all three items should state enabled if not enable them.

Beste regards,
Michel Denie

You can't update directx because you already HAVE the latest released
version.

It IS possible you're having issue with your game because of either a
hardware, driver, or software issue.

To find out what service pack you're running:

Press windows logo key+pause, and choose the 'general' tab. If it
DOESN't say 'Service pack 1' or 'service pack 2' , it's the original
release. In which case, GET service pack 2, it fixes many windows
bugs and security holes.
