I have used every MS Operating System since PC-DOS on an original IBM XT.
Vista is the biggest problem I have ever had in installing a new system. And
your recent upgrade was a complete disaster. Its also too damn slow.

I want to unload it cancel the key code and get XP.

I know that means reformatting my harddrive and reinstalling everything but
it will be worth it.

Who is the "your" in your, "... And your recent upgrade ..." statement? You
realize this is a peer-to-peer newsgroup...?

As long as you have a valid license for Windows XP that can be used on the
system in question and the hardware manufacturer (for every component
currently installed/connected) for the system is providing drivers for
WIndows XP - you can format and install Windows XP. I would contact the
vendor that sold you the computer for options.

Your IBM XT computer is quite old and considered obsolete.
I would not have attempted to install Windows Vista on this
ancient hardware.
