It's still there, sort of.
Just click the "Managed your contacts" icon (looks like two arrows) to the right of the 'Find
a contact or number' field, and choose Show Details.
If you don't like that view and would prefer to small versions, you can do by using an
"unsupported" (aka no stamp of approval from Microsoft) patch. The "Mess" Patch will do this
for you which you can find here:
http://www.mess.be
(look for the Mess patch link in the top headlines).
The feature in question is "Show Small Display Pictures In Normal View".
