Can You Uninstall Windows Update V5?

I've been reading most all of these posts and it sure
looks like WU V5 has caused a lot of the problems. I know
on my computer (Win XP SP2) it has. I got WU V5 as part of
a critical update while still on SP1. Once the "new and
improved" WU appeared things were never the same. I
installed SP2 from CD hoping that would fix the problem
but it did not. If I keep "tweaking" things according to
this forum I fear I will really botch things up. I think
I'll not update Windows until a logical explanation or fix
comes about. I realize that may never happen. -Joe

I'm in the same boat (I have the SP@ CD on order).
I got WU V5 as part of an earlier update as well, and it
(WU) hasn't worked cleanly since.
I'm convinced there is a bug in the update engine.
