Hello,
After downloading the files needed for updating XP SP1 to SP2 I had to
cancel the installation.
Although I am still running SP1, WU does not offer me to upgrade anymore,
and I can't locate the downloaded files. How can I reset WU so it would let
me choose SP2 again?
Thanks

Follow the Service Pack Installation checklist:

Thanks, but there was no reference there to my problem. What I did find was
a link to the network installation file, but MS advise aginst using it for a
single PC. Is there a reason for that?

The Network Installation file is fine.
Microsoft prefers single computer users to use Automatic Update.
Automatic Update is a customized download for your computer at that
time.
Thus the size will be smaller depending how up to date the computer
is.
Automatic Update for single computer users saves Microsoft bandwidth.
The Network Installation has everything making it about 266mb.
Once installed both versions are identical.

The Network Installation with the checklist will help make for a
problem free installation.
