My little update button has popped up with service pack 3 on it to download,
I have cancelled this before as being a graphic artist a I have good reason
not to want it, as yet ai have not fdownloaded it for installing but the
button is continually in my task bar. i have unchecked the boxes a dozen
times but it will not disappear. Is ther any way I can remove this please.

I am unsure how SP3 (which at this point - given your description of how it
is being offered) would affect you as a 'graphic artist'. I say this
because of the SP3's available in the way you describe would be a Microsoft
Office (XP, 2003?) update - and unless you use PowerPoint, Word, Excel,
Access, Outlook, etc for your graphic editing - I am unsure how it affects
you.

*In other words - perhaps you should read carefully what you are being
offered - even click on a link to explain more details, etc.

Let us know!
