I'm no programmer, but I had the same problem today when running Norton
WinDoctor. I also read the other posts about this same problem but found
nothing worked for my computer. HERE is what worked for me. I have Windows
XP Home with SP2.
I used the search assistant to find where msvcr80.dll was stored on my
computer (c:\windows\WinnSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_*.*). I found three
dll's in that folder (msvcm80.dll....msvcp80.dll......msvcr80.dll). I copied
and pasted the three dll's (not the folder holding them) to the
c:\windows\system\ folder. In that folder was a list of standard dll's for
Windows. After adding these three dll's to this folder I found no errors
when running Norton Windoctor.
I got a feeling pasting these dll's has no impact on how Microsoft.Net
actually functions, but it makes Norton happy. I probably set myself up for
a major correction from a real programmer.......
