I have a guy who is admin on his own Vista Ultimate machine but Task Manger
is not an option when he presses Ctrl+Alt+Del. And when he tried to run
taskmgr.exe at the command line it tells him task manager has been disabled
by the administrator. Huh?

What is going on and how to I allow him to run task manager?

Thanks!

Hi Bob,

Using Method One or Two in this tutorial should allow you to enable
Task Manager again.

Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/taskmanager_error.htm

See Methods 2, 3 and 4 which should work in Vista.

Importantly, follow-up with complete system scan for Malware.

Hello, What app do you suggest for scanning malware on Vista?

Thank you!

Lavasoft Ad-Aware, for starters. Also, you need a good Anti-Virus. I use Grisoft AVG.

Just Bob,

Other than also using Windows Defender, these are some pretty good free
ones:

1. Spybot Search & Destroy -
http://www.safer-networking.org/

2. SUPERAntiSpyware -
'SUPERAntiSpyware.com - AntiAdware. AntiSpyware. AntiMalware.'

3. Avast Home Edition Antivirus -
'Free antivirus - avast! 4 Home Edition'
