Cannot boot after installing latest win2k updates

I downloaded and installed the latest updates for Windows 2000 Professional
(SP4) dated Oct. 12 2004 and the Cumulative update for IE6. Following this,
Windows fails to boot (yet it is possible to boot in Safe Mode without
networking).

Any idea how to solve this problem?

I have also encountered the same problem, my computer will not reboot, and
new updates will download but won't install. I can't Shut my computer down
without using the power switch. This is very annoying considering this is a
brand new machine.
