Cannot change very low resolution with Microsoft LifeCam Studio WebCam

I just bought an MS LifeCam Studio WebCam. Much to my disappointment,
I cannot get any resolution other than 160x120—that is the only option
under resolution in the LifeCam Controls. I am using Vista 64, SP2,
and the system is an Intel core duo 2.13 GHz. The video card ATI
Radeon x1900. I have a Samsung SyncMaster 213T at 1600 x 1200
resolution.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how to fix it?
