i just installed the latest updates and now cannot connect to the internet.I
used restore to befor updates were installed. After the restore was able to
connect to the internet again.
I'm running XP Pro sp2. This was a fresh install 2 weeks ago.
Would deleting the connection and making a new one fix this? So for now i
will not be updating until this can be solved.

Thanks for any and all help.

Also I have this problem:
Details:
-When using the ADSL cable directly on my PC, it is still OK, I can connect
to the internet (with and without latest updates).
-When using a broad router, I can not connect anymore to the internet with
the latest updates. When removing these updates it is ok.
-When I try to connect to the Router with the latest updates installed, I
get a message like "missing Wireless LAN adapter"...

If somebody can help, it would be great!

After the latest round of wonderful updates, I cannot ping the gateway on my
wireless router. I can connect to the wireless network, but what good is
that if I can't ping the gateway. System Restore did NOT fix the problem.
Thank goodness for Norton Ghost. Re-imaged to before the updates, everything
worked ok. Did the updates again, same results. Re-imaging again. No more
Windows XP updates for me. Microsoft, do you have a fix for this? These are
the updates from last Tuesday (10 or so).

All,

My problem seems to be fixed!

What has been done:
-I removed manually the latest updates (via the control panel)
-Since I still selected the Windows updates to be installed automatically,
it installed the same updates again, and automatically rebooted the system
--> Afterwards I can connect to the internet via my router without any
problem. (even after switching the PC OFF/ON again)

Hopefully this is also helpfull for other people.

I had the same problem. Tried to connect to several different networks to
make sure that it wasn't a hardware problem. Uninstalling the updates like
ya'll recommended...hope that works. Microsoft, if you're listening, which
update is causing the conflict, so that I may download the remaining ones?

I have an incident opened with Microsoft, for what that's worth. Haven't
heard back from them. Last night I tried the netsh commands to reset the IP
stack, that didn't fix the problem either. Then I started un-installing the
updates one by one, I think I got rid of four of them before getting tired
and bored, and sick of rebooting after each one. Also, you will get a
message that says "If you remove this, none of the other updates will work
either". Great.

I also installed sp2 with all updates and it disabled my network connection
to my dsl modem, tried to create another broadband connection in the control
panel/network connections and use the setup with login and password but it
will not create it. I have tried several times to install sp2 and it
completly wipes out my dsl connection and cannot bring up the logon dialoge
box.

any help would be appreciated!
