I am trying to create a shortcut to
c:\Program Files\Mozilla Kompozer\KompoZer 0.7.10\kompozer.exe
The window within which you create shortcuts says that
this file does not exist! I am looking at that file! I
have opened "command prompt" and cd to that subdirectory.
question: Am I trying to fight UAC?
I am *certain* that my spelling is correct.
Tnx,
Charles

Try these.

Assuming you want the shortcut on your desktop.

Navigate to the Desktop folder. Click File>New>Shortcut.

OR

Right click kompozer.exe. Create shortcut and cut and paste.

OR

Instead of typing the location, navigate to it in the shortcut window.

*Report back, please*

Put quotes around the path.

You mean the "run" box, not command prompt?

Please, do not post multiple questions on the same issues. Take a look at
the reply I left for you in the "cannot remove kompzer" thread. I think you
may have a corrupt or incorrectly extracted application.

Not this time.

I do not normally top post, so I expect this will offend
somebody... I clicked File>New>Shortcut on the desktop.
Navigation to
C:\File Programs\Mozilla Kompozer\KompoZer 0.7.10\
required some coaxing, but then I had a shortcut on my
desktop. I first moved it to C:\Users\<username>
Then I moved it to C:\Users\<username>\SendTo\kompozer.lnk
new problem or observation...
Vista will not allow a directory listing of
C:\Users\<username>\SendTo\...

the top most legend says "command prompt" and it is what
you get from start>Accessories>"command prompt"
Charles
(it appears that "run" is history from XP days)

It now appears that I have a short cut to a program
that does not run.
Charles
PS When I now right click an html file, kompozer is an
option.

In Vista SendTo is a system subfolder of
<username>AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows. You should not create another
folder with that name in a different location. To avoid any problems, use
the one that is already in AppData\.. Btw, this folder is hidden, you will
have to change the view options in Explorer in order to see it.
