I have an empty folder named songs5.7.5mp3s on my desktop. When I try to
delete it using shift+del, nothing happens, i.e. the folder remains there.
When I try to delete it from the cmd prompt, the following error msg comes:

The system cannot find the path specified.

Furthermore, when I try to rename that folder, a Copy Folder dialog box
appears with the following message:

The C:\Users\Owner\Desktop folder doesn not exist. The file may have been
moved or deleted. Do you want to create it?

C:\Users\Owner\Desktop already exists. Clicking yes or no makes no
difference. The folder name remains unchanged. However, I can copy the folder
to some other location and delete/rename the new copy successfully. I am
running Windows Vista Home Ultimate edition. Any ideas how to delete the
folder?

Thanks in advance

Try taking ownership of the folder then delete:

If that does not work, boot into safe mode then try deleting it.

Have you tried the obvious; right-click>Delete?
