Cannot delete items in Junk email folder

I've never encountered this problem previously but 4 emails are now in
my Junk email folder and when I try to delete them, I get an error
saying "An unknown error has occurred". How do I get rid of them?

Also, if you find that a message won't delete or the Deleted Items or Junk
Mail folder won't empty

Open WLM in Mail mode (do not access News, Contacts, Calendar or Feeds)
Click Work Offline
Configure WLM's compact counter to 1
Press ALT F X
- to exit WLM
Open WLM (after the compact completes, do not interrupt the compact
process)
Open WLM (ensure Offline Mode is still active)
Delete the message or empty the folder
Click Work Online
