Hello again, MowGreen
Good news and bad news. The good news is that I am talking to you via IE7
with update KB937143 installed.
The not-so-good news is that I can't pinpoint where the problem was and what
solved it. This is what I did : -
Contacted Symantec who said 're-install Norton Internet Security 2007'.
Life's too short to do that unless you're certain it's going to solve your
problem.
In NIS2007, turned off all the protection features.
Logged in as administrator, collected the update KB937143 from the hidden
list and re-installed it.
Re-started the computer as required and logged in as administrator again.
IE7 worked, so started turning on the NIS2007 protection features one at a
time.
With all NIS2007 protection back on, IE7 still worked.
Logged in as 'Philip', my everyday identity and confirmed IE7 still working
OK.
Too clever for me! Thanks for your input on this.
