Keep getting error 0x80070003 on security update KB927779 - but this is the
only update that will not download. Others have downloaded fine.

I have read all the posts in here relating to this error and have followed
all the steps, as well as
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=916248
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=910336

I run XP Home

This is the ReportingEvents.log from the SoftwareDistribution folder.

Hm, have you moved the Program Files folder onto another partition
of your harddisk? Wheres the Program Files\Common Files folder
located?

No, I have not partitioned C drive - there is a separate HDD for data.

Program files is under C:\Program Files

Again, this is the only update that will not install - all the others have
installed fine.

Thanks
Kim

Also some have had success with

1. Stop the Automatic Updates service, clear the contents of the DataStore and Download
folders, and restart the Automatic Updates service.
Stop the Automatic Updates Service.
Click Start, Choose Run, In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Select Properties.
Under Service status, click Stop.
Click OK.

2. Delete the Contents of the DataStore and Download folders.
Click Start, Choose Run, In the Run box, type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution
Click OK.
Delete the contents of both the DataStore and Download folders

3. Start the Automatic Updates Service
Click Start, Choose Run, In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Select Properties.
Under Service status, click Start.
Click OK.

Reboot.

If all else fails, rename the softwaredistribution folder and reboot. Naturally you lose
your history but not important.
Worked for me.

OK. I've also got this problem and it's irritating. Clearly you know the
minutae of how pc's work. In easy steps where do I find the DataStore and
Download folders? I've found a Downloaded Program Files folder in C;Windows.
I run Win XP Home.

Cheers

Yes, I have tried doing that several times now - still no luck. All other
updates download, just that one will not.

Have you tried manually downloading and installing the update?
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/r...DisplayLang=en

By manually installing an update, it doesn't show up in your update history on the
website.
