On my smartphone if I go to activesync -> menu -> Configure server

The username and password are greyed-out and cannot be edited.

How can this be changed ?

Hi,
Were you synchronizing at the time you checked the options?

Hi,
There are options for system administrators to prevent users from changing
the settings. These are part of the latest updates for Windows Mobile 5.0.
Did you check with your network administrator to see if they made the
changes?

Also, try a soft reset and then see if you can get to the settings.

Hi Chris

I administrate the Exchange server myself.
Certainly service pack 2 is installed but I can't see anywhere in the ESM
where I could have set anything to prevent changing settings on the mobile
device.

You need to delete the server partnership on the device. (menu->Options.
Highlight the "Exchange Server". Menu-> delete.)

There is state information that is stored in the users exchange store. If
the user name changes, than the state information doesn't match with what
the device has.
