Sometimes computerss can't be found the console. Looking at
windowsupdate.log shows that the computer is connecting to the wsus
server.

If I update manually through windowsupdate.microsoft.com it asks me to
install or update the wsus client and after that it's registered on the
console. Is there any other way to resolve this besides manually
updating?

Thanks.

When you visit WU/MU and install the WU/MU update the WUAUCLT.EXE will run a
report to your WSUS server just as if the update were from WSUS. So this begs
the question "when are the client missing?"

Do they appear in the console only to disappear sometime later. If so do you
find you have a more of less constant number of clients but the actual clients
in the list keep changing. If you manually run "wuauclt /detectnow" on a client
does it appear in the WSUS console for a while.

If all the above are happening then are you client created by cloning (Ghost
etc.). If so then you probably have the classic "duplicate SUSClientID" issue.
