When I try to install Vista in bootable mode,I can reach the point when the
installer asks me where I want to install the OS but there is an empty window
with no selections possible!!!Even if I try the advanced options everything
is grey and cannot select anything. The only thing I can do is to load
appropriate drivers for the HDD device, but seems strange to me since I
already installed the Windows Xp on the same computer!!!
Thanks .Linus

Hello, I have the same problem, I can't find on the web the good driver for
my HD-SATA : "winxp Promise SATA378 (tm) IDE Controller".

I'm getting the same error message, but I *do* have a drive listed. I
can even create a partition and format it using the advanced settings,
but I can't select it as the installation location.

I do get a warning that Windows may not be able to boot the drive, and
to check the controller BIOS. This is because the drive is SCSI and
connected to an add-in controller. But I know it'll have no trouble
booting, as all I have is SCSI disks in the machine. I even tried
installing with just this one drive, still the Vista installer says it
can't find a suitable drive.

What is Windows looking for as suitability?
