If you're using a back-end SQL Server, the SPN needs to be registered for
the SQL Server in order to use Kerberos authentication (as documented in SQL
Books Online).
If you're using WID on the WSUS Server, there's no need for an SPN, as that
connection executes via Shared Memory.
