Greetings Luck,
Interesting that it works in safe mode. Since it's then related to something that's running
try using the Selective startup mode instead. You can get to that by clicking Start, then
Run, typing in "msconfig" and clicking OK. Then choose Selective Startup, check just 'Load
System Services' and click OK. Select the option to reboot when prompted.
Once you come back, see if Messenger works. If it does in fact work, then it's just a matter
of figuring out which process, service or device is doing it.
Regardless, run msconfig again and choose Normal startup to get back to normal.
