Welcome to the "microsoft.public.windowsupdate" newsgroup. You'll notice in
the name of the group - it is very non-specific about product really.
Especially given that "Windows Update" now includes multiple Microsoft
products - now sometimes referred to as "Microsoft Update" instead because
of this.

Therefore - I hope you can see my dillema in attempting to answerr your
query. You have asked about "Service Pack 3" installation. You have not
specified for what product or how you are attempting to obtain and install
said service pack 3 for said product.

Microsoft Windows 2000/XP? Microsoft Office 2000/XP/2003? Something else?

When posing a question anywhere where you know your audience cannot see what
you are posing the question about - especially if the forum is designed in
such a way where there is little to no specific information gleamed about
the subject from the forum title (or if there are multiple possibilities
despite the forum title - such as now) - it is best to give as much
information as possible.

You have to paint the picture of what you have, what you are trying to do,
what the problem is and what you have tried on your own to resolve said
problem. The first part specifies the product(s) in question. You wouldn't
call a car dealership or car parts warehouse and tell them you have a Ford
or a Chevrolet car and need item X for it - you would say you have a 1965
Ford Mustang and you need a new starter for it. (For example.) The second
part lets them know what your skill level might be and what advice they can
'glaze over' versus writing a step-by-step detailed answer.

So please - come back and let me know what operating system you are running,
what specific service pack 3 (for which product) you are attempting to
install and where/how you obtained said service pack and how you have tried
to install it and what work-arounds you have searched for/found/attempted in
order to remedy your own issue. With that information - someone (possibly
me) should be able to help you resolve the issue quickly and effectively.
