When trying to get some updates from the windows update site (either
mannually or automatically) I get the error 0x80072EFD. This error appears
after my computer has tried to download the updates and after I got the
message that the download has been failed.
I have read some comments about this problem, but I can't turn my proxy
server of, because my internet provider requires a proxy server, otherwise I
can't even access the internet!
The only firewall I have, is the one included in SP2.
Does anybody knows the solution for this problem?
Please help!
Thanks

Pieter,

See if anything in this MSKB article is of assistance in resolving
the issue :

You receive an "Error 0x80072EE2" or "Error 0x80072EFD" error
message when you try to use Windows Update

Hi

You might need to use proxycfg.exe to set configure the
proxy server configuration that Windows Update is to use:

Open a command prompt (Start/Run and then "cmd.exe" without the
quotes).

Run this command to see what proxy configuration WU uses:

proxycfg

To set it to use current users's IE proxy settings:

proxycfg -u

To get more help on proxycfg:

proxycfg -?

Thank you for your advise. I have made the changes in the proxy settings of
Windows Update and it works perfect now.
Thank you!

[snip apparently unrelated thread]

Please start a new thread, and include more information about your problem,
including which update you are trying to install, what Vista service pack you
have installed, and the exact error message.

Harry.
