Hi,

I had to re-install my XP software and now I cannot get updates. I get this
message when I click Express Install option for Udates:

[Error number: 0x8024402C]
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page
you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you
solve
the problem.

Please help. I tried the self help and I am all confused.

Thanks.

Can't help with an answer, but I have exactly the same problem after
reinstalling windows XP (after fitting a new mother board).

Phil

See if this helps

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=883821

Also try the below as it was posted in another thread by someone.

1. Click on Start, and then click Run.
2. Type cmd in the Open box to get a DOS prompt.
3. Type "net stop wuauserv" without the quotes at the command prompt, and
press
Enter.
4. Delete (or put in recycle bin) the contents of
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution (but not the SoftwareDistribution folder)
5. Type net start wuauserv at the command prompt, and press Enter.
6. Now try Windows Update again.

Phil:I have been in the same situation since 2007 Jan 3-4. According to my
Updater's History it has tried to automatically dowload over 1000 times
unsucessfully. Up until the mentioned date it worked flawlessly. Tried every
possible scenario suggested by Microsoft but the problem is still present. I
do not think even MS understands or can correct this problem. I would be most
greatful if someone could solve this annoying problem.
