I cannot get Vista Windows Update to work

I have tried everything MS told me to do and nothing they said worked. I
keep getting the same error code displayed. I see on the various forums that
there are over a hundred complaints airing this problem. Have any of you out
there found a way to solve this problem? Another complaint I have and
numerous others out there have is the inability to view PPS attachments
without first copying them to a directory and then opening Microsoft office
power point viewer 2007 and then clicking on the PPS file that you
previously copied to view it. Nothing that MS said to do works there either.
This was never a problem in XP. I'm thinking about giving my system a
complete enema and doing a complete system reinstall and seeing if that
would solve the problem. I doubt if it will though.
I would appreciate your suggestions in helping me to solve this problem. I
have no problem with Vista except with these 2 problems. Thanks

Hopefully 'Cannot Update Windows using Windows Update'

That probably was do to me switching from Comcast to DSL and being unable to
view an answer from my previous post.. You see there is probably a reason
for everything. Lest not yee be judged.
I ask this question again because I REALLY would like to solve this problem
because it's a pain in the buttocks so, if any of you have an answer I would
appreciate your time. None of the suggestions have yet to work.
Thanks again.
