cannot get windows live messenger to work due to "side-by-side "er

new sony vgn-fw490j installed with retail vista ultimate 64-bit. The
application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is
incorrect. has office 2003, roxio 2009, adobe cs4 design premium. I
downloaded and installed windows live. messenger I get the following error
message when i try to start windows live messenger. I have uninstalled and
reinstalled twice... to no avail. What is the solution?
