Cannot Install Activex for Windows Update

Hi,
When I click on the install activex bar for windows update activex control
the page refreshes without installing the control. There are no error
messages and the information bar highlights that I should install the
control. This cycle continues and I cannot install the control. (the
run/don't run box appears each time but doesn't make any difference when I
press run)

I have turned off all anti spy stuff and nothing makes any difference

Any help out there?

There is a very good chance are that you are seeing the affects of a
hijackware infection.

1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:

2. Run this online scan (in safe mode w/networking, if need be):

3. Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting the requested
logs in an appropriate forum, not here.

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
