I have a new Dell. When I tried to download some files, Adobe tried to
install but would not work. I then tried to download Adobe 8.0 thru the web-
it runs thru most of the download and then I get "fatal error".I have Vista.
Appreciate any help

First of all, make sure you consent the installation, or just run it, as
administrator.

The installation file you downloaded may be corrupted, try to download and
install it again from www.adobe.com.

Maybe it would be worth a try to download
the complete file to your hard drive and then
install from there.

Adobe Reader

FWIW...some people prefer the Foxit Reader:

Uninstall all versions of Adobe (Acrobat) Reader and then either install the
newest version from Adobe or install Foxit:

Dick

I've discovered that some installers like to be "run as administrator
to operate properly. This may be one of those situations. Download th
installer to your hard drive, then right click the installer and selec
run as administrator. That may help

Do you have UAC turned off? That's why. Turn it back on.

You don't say Adobe (what). Are you talking about the PDF Reader Flash or
just what?

Right click on the task bar and open the task manager. Make sure that the
Adobe program is not running in the background. I had to kill that process
before I could install Adobe.
