I'm trying to copy some fonts from my XP machine to Vista machine. They end
in the extension .fot. XP says they are TrueType fonts. When I try to install
them I get the error "The file is not a valid font file and cannot be
installed." How can I install these fonts?

My guess... They were priced fonts and can't be moved.

..Those .fot files are not fonts. They were used in Windows 3.1 to give the
ability to use TrueType fonts, like Macs could. They are like junction
points. You must have copied them from a much older machine than your XP
one.

There is no such copy protection for fonts.
